The Prefix “Be-“

I’ve been thinking. We use the prefix “be-” to suggest something is being added:

Think of “befriend,” “bespatter,” “befoul,” and “befog.”

Why, then, do we say “beheaded”? ¬†Shouldn’t it be “deheaded”?
